Supplying Clean Water For Children Is Vital

By: Rachel Yoshida

If you pay attention to the advertisements on television that show so many of the deplorable living conditions in the African nation, then it must pull at the strings of your heart to realize that these little children must live the way they do everyday. If it terrible in many places throughout the Nation, but Sudan has been a place where there has not been much help allowed in until now and help is still not wide spread there.

There is nothing in the world worse than the fact that many children are starving and do not have even clean water to drink. This is all too common in Africa as well as other places around the world. When people are forced to walk for miles each day only to get their drinking and cooking water from a polluted pond or puddle of muddy water filled with animal feces, it is no wonder that so many of little children do not live long or healthy lives.

It has become a major issue for many churches and other organizations across our country and they are trying to achieve some progress where this problem is concerned. While it might not be possible to solve all of the problems in the world, there is much that can be done to provide many of these villages and refugee sites with clean water from freshly dug wells nearer to where these people live.

We take having clean water to drink, to cook with, and to bathe with for granted. These people would be simply amazed to have that basic essential. It means that the children and adults do not have to become dehydrated if their local or far away watering hole dries up. It means that if they have a well with fresh water they do not have to become sick from drinking water that is filled with life threatening bacteria.

If your church or organization is looking for a worthy project to fund, why not check into the possibility of providing a village with a well. It can be one of the most life sustaining gifts that can be given to people who have no way of providing one for them selves. If you are only able to donate a few dollars a month to one of these children, you will be not only be changing a life, but possibly saving one all together. There is no charity more worth while than providing a helpless child some where in the world with clean water and food.
